Proteinic needs of the cat are superior of 25 % compared to the dog ; it needs particular fat, in protein, in vitamins A, D, E and K .

Industrial Preparations: it is well-balanced and complete products which require no supplementary contribution.

Domestic preparations: the menu will consist in :

-   50 % of thin meat, giblets or fish

-   20 % of rice  or cereal

-   20 % of green vegetables or carrots cooked

-   10 %  of yeast dries, of salad oil and mineral vitamin complement (= 1 spoonful every day)

Daily ration depends on the weight of the animal, its age, its sex and its health : a castrated cat needs a ration less important than a non castrated cat because it exerts itself less ; a pregnante or feeding female  needs a more energizing food; an old cat needs more vitamins and calcium.

Water requirements are not very important ; but it is necessary that it  can drink as one pleases ; a cat fed with croquettes (dry food) should drink more not to suffer bladder stones).

Milk: if the cat appreciates milk and especially if it digests him, it consists  an important source of milk.

Grass :  as possible, the cat eats grass; this vegetable plays a purgative role and favours the transit of the indigestible roll from hairs ; specialized stores sell grasse  for cats living in apartment.
